Skills Canada Nova Scotia - Open Day and Skills After School

Are you curious about what options are available for a career in skilled trades and technology?

On February 7, 2022, NS Skills will be hosting a  skilled trades open day in partnership with the East Preston Family Resource Centre and Hope Blooms. Our programming is fun, interactive and is sure to keep students engaged.

If you are interested in the event please follow the LINK on our website to register. It will be through Zoom from 6 to 7PM.

After this Skills NS are also offering a Skills After School Program is a project designed for youth from Black, Indigenous, or Persons of Colour (BIPOC) communities in a series of activities and workshops that will provide an opportunity to explore and identify interests and make lasting career connections.

The project aims to develop and deliver meaningful new career exploration opportunities focused on skilled trades and technologies.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Skills After School program will be hosted virtually. Sessions will be held once a week for six weeks, and will be hosted by diverse facilitators. Sessions will focus on skilled trades from the four-sectors of industry: Construction, Motive Power, Industrial, and Service.

We have two cohorts starting in February, starting February 12, co-hosted with the East Preston Family Resource Centre and Hope Blooms. These centres will provide a pick-up location for kits containing materials used during each session of the program.

Activities will be provided free of charge and are designed to give participants a completed project at the end of each session. Lunch vouchers will be provided, and participants will receive certificates upon completion of the program.

To register for the SKILLS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM find the LINK on our website or see Ms. Willis.
