Grade 9 Registration 2022 – Important Dates

Due to public health protocols in place, we will not be able to visit the Grade 9 classes to help with the registration process for Grade 10 at PAHS. Therefore, we have developed an approach that will provide the information to students and families digitally, and also allow for any questions to be answered.

February 1

We will send out a copy of our High School Registration Handbook to all families via email, as well as a link directing them to our Student Services website. Students will be issued a planning sheet that they can start filling in.

February 1-11

Junior High Counsellors/Staff will talk to Grade 9s about high school registration. We will make a series of videos/information available on our Student Services website that they will be shown at school but also that we encourage families to watch at home. They will highlight the diverse programming options at PAHS, including the O2 and IB Programs, the Africentric Math Cohort, as well as Fine Arts and Technology.

It would be tremendously helpful if all of the grade nines in both English and French Immersion classes had an opportunity to view those videos in class to become well informed on the options.

February 14-18 – REGISTRATION INFORMATION WEEK

Any Google Meet or Zoom links will be sent out via email

• February 14-18 – IB Information Google Meets for Students held during the daytime (IB Coordinator and JH Counsellors will coordinate times)
• February 15: 6pm – IB Information Session for Parents, hosted by our IB Coordinator, Tracy Giffin.
• February 16: 6pm – Course Selection Information Session for African Nova Scotian learners which will be hosted by our Principal Craig Campbell and Counsellor Courtney Cribb. A focus will be on the Africentric Mathematics Cohort taking place in the fall.
• February 17: 6-8pm – General Question and Answer Session for all students or parents led by our Registrar, Dan MacDonald.

February 21-28 – PowerSchool Registration

Students will be given time at their JH School to register for classes with their counsellors. They will have their planning forms that parents/families hopefully had a chance to talk to them about.
