We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.

From Ms. McKay:
There will be an Options to Anger session for boys starting in February. If you feel like you would like to learn strategies to deal with frustration and how to better handle your anger, please see Ms. McKay in the main office for more information.

Family Literacy Day is on January 27. The purpose of Family Literacy Day is to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in literacy-related activities as a family. The theme this year is Travel the World. Use your imagination to go exploring and travel the world together as a family – you never know what you’ll learn! Plan your dream trip, learn about another culture and open your mind to the world. For more information: https://abclifeliteracy.ca/all-programs/family-literacy-day/

From Ms. Crocker:
There are thousands of African Nova Scotians who have made positive contributions to their communities and the province. Maybe you could research someone like Richard Preston or Tony Mancini and do a project for the Buddy Daye Contest.

New Lunch for Tuesdays:
Sunwich has agreed to trial a special meal for Tuesdays from January 26 to February 9: cooked rice topped with peas, carrots and diced chicken as well as the usual drinks and snack choices. The cost of this meal is $5.25. If it receives a good response, it will be continued for the rest of the school year.
