Ellenvale - Oct 21 Announcements

Announcements Wednesday, October 21, 2020

We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.

From Mr. Lewis:
October is Mi’kmaq History Month. The purpose is to promote public awareness about the Mi’kmaq culture and heritage to the people of Nova Scotia. Take a look around the school to see the Mi'kmaq History Month poster.

And, Robotics Team members will have two meetings this Thursday, tomorrow, in the Learning Commons – one at lunch and one after school.

Thank you to all students who have been focusing on supporting our community and being great citizens by bringing your recyclables and garbage back to school over lunch hour along Belle Vista Drive. Please keep up the good work! This week we will extend our focus on cleaning Morash Park. Let’s pay special attention this week to picking up and depositing garbage in waste bins at our community park area  -– Morash Park. Go Eagles!

1. SOAR tickets - This week homerooms can continue to accumulate class participation points for SOAR Awards.  SOAR means respecting S-elf, O-thers, A-cademics, and R-esponsibility.  Students who are working hard to achieve their personal best in respecting and caring for Self, Others, Academics, and Responsible behaviour, may receive a SOAR ticket from any staff member.  Make sure your name is on the ticket with your homeroom number and drop it in the blue SOAR box at the main office.  At the end of the week we will count homeroom points AND we will have a draw for individual student prizes including movie passes and more.

From Mme Boudreau:
Don't forget to tell your friends and family about our 50/50 fundraiser. If they go to the drop-down menu, they can also help your homeroom win a pizza party! The jackpot is already over $2700. Only 7 days left to buy!

Parents/Guardians:
As we approach midway through first term, we invite you to review your student’s assessment information in PowerSchool. There is valuable information in PowerSchool for you--attendance information (classes missed, lates, etc.) as well as student assessment results. If you are unable to access PowerSchool Parent Portal, email Mrs. Cottingham (jcottingham@hrce.ca), for assistance.

Also, thank you to the many parents who have sent in donations of disposable masks!!! Really, really appreciated. We hand out at least a dozen masks every day.

School Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting, this coming Monday, October 26, via Google Meets. If you want to attend, please send a request to Mr. Lewis to receive an invite.

Would the following student(s) please come to the office for a message:
