October is Mi’kmaq History Month. The purpose is to promote public awareness about the Mi’kmaq culture and heritage to the people of Nova Scotia. Take a look around the school to see the Mi'kmaq History Month poster.

EPG Meeting: All parents invited to our first EPG Meeting - (Ellenvale Project Group) starting at 5:00 PM on Monday, October 7, at Ellenvale Junior High School. The Ellenvale Project Group focusses on supporting teachers and initiatives in the school regarding student/community events and fundraising. It provides parents an opportunity to have a short-term commitment to a particular event such as our Annual Bingo Fundraiser, our Coffee Shop, Pizza days.
Student Picture Retakes are on Tuesday, October 15.
We have been given 10 complimentary day passes for Friday, Oct 25 at Hal-Con – if you are interested, please see Mr. Lewis.

Cookie Dough Orders will be delivered on Thursday, Oct. 10, 6:30pm pick up.
AND our first school dance will be on October 17, 6:30 to 9pm. Sorry, no guests for this dance. More details to follow shortly.

All grade 9 leadership students are asked to come to a meeting on Monday, October 7, in Mme Leslie's room at the lunch bell. Please bring your lunch.

From Mme Boudreau:
There are some spots for WeDay. Please see Mme Boudreau in Room 215 after the last bell of the day as soon as possible if you are an active volunteer and would like to come.

There will be Djembe drumming in the Music Room today at 12:10. All welcome.

From Ms. Sparks:
Anyone interested in being part of the Yearbook Committee is invited Monday, October 7, to meet in Ms. Spark’s room at 12:15pm.

From Ms. O’Handley:
Back by popular demand, popcorn will be sold this morning and at lunch while supplies last. Cost is $1/bag.

From Mrs. Tingley:
Boys volleyball tryouts will be on Tuesday AND Thursday (October 8th and 10th, next week) from 3-5 pm in the gym. Please sign up on the sheet outside Mme. Tingley's room (on the second floor next to Mrs. Tse.). Please see Mme. Tingley if you are unable to make these times.
