General Announcements

  • Today please remember to be kind, respectful and inclusive to each other in our hallways, classrooms and community.
  • Yesterday was National Caretaker’s Day! Big shout out to Mr. Diggs for all he does for us to keep Ellenvale ship shape! Give him some big props today!
  • Terry Fox Fundraising Dance is on Thursday, October 12 - tickets are on sale now on SchoolCash! $5 each - no guests allowed, open for grade 6 to 9 and there will be a canteen! Get your tickets today!
  • October is a big month, in this month we learn about Mikmaq History, Islamic History, Hispanic Heritage and Women’s History. Each day we will learn something new. I invite any students or staff to come see us with any ideas they may have on how we can celebrate and learn more.
  • Today we start with Mikmaq History Month facts, the Mi’kmaq word for hello is Kwe’ (gway) and the four sacred medicines are sage, sweet grass, ceremonial tobacco and cedar. Smudging means the lighting of sage or sweet grass to help rid of negative feelings and help cleanse and bring happy thoughts and feelings. Often done with prayer to the great creator.
  • Reminder to grade 8 and 9 students, access to the modular is off limits. The modular is for grade 6 and 7 students only. Grade 8 and 9 please do not enter the modular building.
  • If you have forgotten your LUNCH today please let us know in the office by 10am, come by and see Ms. Hernon or Ms. Sushmita or tell your teacher so they can let us know.
  • Healthy Hunger has a vendor on each day of the week again! Mondays and Fridays are The Lunch Lady with lots of great options.  Dominos Tuesday with pizza, pasta and chicken! Pita Pit Wednesdays and Kenny’s Pizza Thursdays! Place your orders a week in advance online! 

Band & Music Announcements

  • Glam Band at lunch with Mr. Mosher
  • CBC Music Rehearsal for Grade 6 is at lunch - 1050 - in Ms. Burnett’s room - 604. Do not bring your lunch you will be released at 11:35 to go to your homeroom to eat and get your pizza if you ordered.

Athletic Announcements

  • Cross Country Tryout results will be posted on the bulletin board by the gym TOMORROW morning.
  • Next soccer games are on Wednesday, October 4 versus Bicentennial at Eric Graves field. Male at 3:45 and Female at 5:00PM.
  • Next female volleyball practice Thursday morning at 7:30AM.
