Ellenvale Junior High

February 15th, 2019

We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.

From Mr. Fraser
Friday - lunch – Jazz Band Rehearsal

From Mr. Lewis:
Mr. Fraser has launched the annual Los Primos fundraiser for the Band today and we thought that students who are not in the Band program might like to sell tickets for this fundraiser also. The proceeds from tickets sold by non-Band students would go toward our ongoing projects—the computer lab being turned into a Common Area, the Art Gallery being created on the 2nd floor and the refreshing of our student washrooms.
Tickets sold by non-band students can be picked up and returned to the main office. All tickets and monies are due by Feb. 27 (no later). The grand prize is a trip for 4 to Cuba—one week all inclusive!! Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. A portion of the sales would also go to support Music Education in Nova Scotia and Cuba.

Are you active outside school -- part of any club or team that promotes physical activity and a healthy lifestyle? If so, bring in a 4x6 photo of yourself doing what you do to stay healthy when you are not at school. Skiing, skating, swimming, hockey, running, rock climbing.....anything active! We will start a collection on the bulletin board outside the gym, so please note that you may not get your picture back.

From Mr. Emberly:
The ski trip scheduled for Feb 13 has been postponed to March 11. If you are signed up for this ski trip but cannot attend the trip on the new date of March 11, please inform the office ASAP.

From Mrs. Cottingham:
Donations of plastic forks would be greatly appreciated. We have quite a few spoons-- thank you to everyone who gave generously. We probably give out 5 to 10 spoons or forks a day during the lunch time, so they are really appreciated. Of course bringing your own cutlery is also a great idea and more environmentally wise.

A cross on a chain was found yesterday on the first floor. Please come to the office to claim it. Also, a pair of black shoes were found in the boys’ locker room. Come to the office to claim please.
