We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional unceded ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people. 

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years. 

General Announcements

  • Remember that your coats, vests, backpacks, smart watches and cell phones should be put in your lockers each morning. These items are not allowed in classrooms.

  • PLEASE stay off and out of the snowbanks, no climbing, no tunnels. AND no throwing snow, automatic in-school suspension.

  • A reminder that O2 applications are due to Mr. Gabriel by this Friday, February 27.

  • Today for AHM we recognize Mathieu da Costa. He was an Afro-French member of the French exploring parties that travelled from France to the New World in the early 17th century. He was the first recorded free black person to arrive on the territory of today's Canada. He spoke five languages and served as an interpreter between the French and the Mi’kmaq. For over 400 years many Black communities have come to Canada from all over the world.

  • Today our African Heritage Month Quiz Team is off to kick some butt. Way to go team, have a great day!

  • Today there will be an African Heritage Month dance performance for Grade 6 & 7. We will call your classes down for the second period.

  • Ellenvale Allies Club meeting at the 11:50 bell in room 219 with Ms. Cooper, bring your lunch - all are welcome!

Athletic Announcements

  • We have one seat on the Grade 9 ski trip available, if you are interested, please come to the office.

  • Grade 6 & 7 male AND female badminton tryouts at lunch. 

  • Male basketball practice after school until 430PM. Quarter final game tomorrow at Graham Creighton at 4PM.

  • Female basketball game today at Oxford at 4PM. Go Eagles!
