We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional unceded ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people. 

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years. 

If you have forgotten your LUNCH today please let us know in the office by 10AM and we will provide you with lunch from the lunch program. 

General Announcements

  • Remember that your coats, vests, backpacks, smart watches and cell phones should be put in your lockers each morning. These items are not allowed in classrooms.

  • Today is the start of African Heritage Month. Each February, Nova Scotians come together to honour African Heritage Month, a time to recognize the history, culture, achievements and contributions of African Nova Scotians and people of African descent across the province. The 2026 theme for African Heritage Month is: “Strength in Unity – Moving Forward with Purpose, Prosperity, Power and Progress”. The theme reflects the strength that grows when communities come together with shared purpose. It honours the progress made through solidarity and the power of unity to create lasting change.

  • Each day we will recognize an African Nova Scotian. Today we recognize Delmore "Buddy" Daye. He was an athlete, a public servant, a renowned social activist and community leader. Check out the Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute for more information @dbdli
