We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional unceded ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people. 

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years. 

General Announcements

  • Remember that your coats, vests, backpacks, smart watches and cell phones should be put in your lockers each morning. These items are not allowed in classrooms.

  • Reminder to all Grade 6 students that at recess you are not allowed on the snowbanks. All other grades, at lunch, you are not allowed on the snowbanks. Stay off the snowbanks!

  • Today we recognize Edith Clayton from East Preston and descendant of a Black Loyalist and was well known as a legendary basket weaver. The weaving technique originated in Africa and was passed on over 6 generations. In 1977 she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal.

  • Heritage Day on Monday - no school. It is a day to honor Joseph Willie Comeau, an Acadian educator, entrepreneur, legislator and Senator from Digby County, Nova Scotia. He worked as a teacher, operated several businesses and served nine terms as a Member of the Legislative Assembly before being appointed to the Senate of Canada in 1948. He is recognized for his long-standing advocacy for Acadian language, culture and education in Nova Scotia.
