Today for AHM we highlight Viola Desmond. She was a Canadian civil rights activist & businesswoman of ANS descent. In 1946, she challenged racial segregation at a cinema in New Glasgow by refusing to leave a whites-only area starting the modern civil rights movement in Canada.
