Posted on the HRCE website is this message: More information about a return to school date will be released on Friday, May 7.

Students are not to go into google classrooms that are not their own. Please be respectful of other people’s learning space.

Our on-line learning adventure continues!! Please do not hesitate to contact you child’s teachers or to call the school at 435 8420 if you have any concerns or questions. The schedule for on line learning can be found on our website: elj.hrce.ca. Your child can access their personal schedule in PowerSchool.

Please be patient and understanding. Many of our teachers are working from home and internet connections may be unreliable. We are bound to have frustrations and bumps along the way, but, together, we can push through keep learning and caring for each other.

If you received a chrome book, you will have also received an agreement for it’s use by you at home. Please return that agreement once it has been signed. You can scan to email (jcottingham@hrce.ca) or fax to 435 8469 or ring the doorbell at the school front door and drop it off. Thanks!

If you are coming to the school to pick up chrome books, instruments or student’s personal items, please come to the school between 9am and 3pm. Please call 435-8420 from your car once you are at the school and you will be met at the door with the items you have pre-arranged to pick up.

Don’t forget to buy your tickets for our Rafflebox 50/50 Fundraiser!! $2,630.00 raised and here are the standings: Mme. Leslie holding first place at $350, Ms. Moore’s class has come out of the pack to capture 2nd place with $320, and Ms. McCarron’s class is in third place with $280. Wow, what a horse race! There are now only 2 homerooms (not to mention names but  ---- Sparks 801 and Parsons 804) who are at $20. Pizza party is up for grabs for the 1st place homeroom (maybe we will have the party outside)! And, we will have prizes for the 2nd and 3rd place classes also. Spread the word, share our rafflebox website to invite friends, neighbours, relatives and old Ellenvale students to participate!

It is easy to buy tickets! Go to https://www2.rafflebox.ca/raffle/ellenvalejhs
This fundraiser is to support our outdoor classrooms, our Grade 9 promotion plans, and, hopefully, to purchase more Chrome Books toward our goal of one for every student. Tickets are for sale until May 17, 2021, midnight. The draw will take place on May 18, 2021, at the school. The winner will be contacted by email and/or phone.

Don’t Miss Out – Order your Yearbook NOW!!
Please contact jcottingham@hrce.ca if you would like to purchase a yearbook while we are learning on-line. The deadline to order your yearbook is Monday, May 8—that’s this Thursday!!! The cost is $25, cash preferred. We are not able to accept e-transfers.
Speaking of the yearbook, Grade 9 students can submit baby photos for a fun guessing page. The deadline for this is TODAY! Anyone interested can email them to chapmagx@hotmail.com.

From 905 Civics Group:
Today’s tip to avoid being a bucket dipper is to not make comments about people’s hair that is based on race or ask to touch it. People have different kinds of hair and discussing it in terms of race is disrespectful. You can compliment people’s hair without mentioning their race and without asking to touch it. Thanks for listening and learning how to be more kind.

Bussing for 2021-22:
If you think your child may qualify for bussing next year (this particularly applies to grade 9 students going into Grade 10), please ensure your primary address is up–to-date in PowerSchool as the bus companies draw their information from PowerSchool. Please call the office at 435 8420 if you need to update or verify your address.
