Announcements Monday, April 19, 2021
Week One/A

We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the unceded traditional ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.

Eagle Expectation:
We have about 25 students who are late in the morning. The task of ensuring all students are safely accounted for can take up to 2 or more hours. The first bell rings at 8:35 and students should be sitting at their desks by 8:40am. Students are permitted in the building as early as 8:25. It would great to reduce the number of late students in the morning!

Don’t forget to buy your tickets for our Rafflebox 50/50 Fundraiser!! Last checked, the total raised so far is over $1000! Mr. Vautour’s class is in the lead having raised $120 so far, Ms. Short’s class is in 2nd place and Ms. Tramble’s homeroom is in third place!!!

It is easy to buy tickets! Go to https://www2.rafflebox.ca/raffle/ellenvalejhs
This fundraiser is to support our outdoor classrooms, our Grade 9 promotion plans, and, hopefully, to purchase more Chrome Books toward our goal of one for every student.
We are also having a class fundraising competition! If you are buying tickets on behalf of a particular student, there is an option for you to choose their homeroom so we can track ticket sales by homeroom and reward that class with a pizza party.

Tickets are for sale until May 17, 2021, midnight. The draw will take place on May 18, 2021, at the school. The winner will be contacted by email and/or phone.

From Ms. Crocker:
Students and staff are encouraged to design a Black Lives Matter tee shirt to be made for all Ellenvale Eagles. We welcome your creative designs and they can be dropped off to the main office. Next Monday, April 26, is the deadline for submitting your designs!

Yearbook 2021 – Orders can now be made!!
Please drop by the office with $25 (cash preferred) to order your 2021 yearbook!
Speaking of the yearbook, Grade 9 students can submit baby photos for a fun guessing page. Anyone interested can email them to chapmagx@hotmail.com.

From Ms. Crocker:
Girls Group with Moe Green meets at 11am in the Learning Commons today and Friday.
Guys Group with Moe Green meets at 1pm in the Learning Commons today and Friday.

From 905 Civics Group:
Today’s tip to avoid being a bucket dipper is to not ask a BIPOC person to give their perspective on something just because you think they might have experienced it or can speak for all people of their race. This is disrespectful because not all BIPOC people have experienced the same thing or want to talk about it. Thanks for listening and learning how to be more kind.

A canteen will be hosted by 905 in the front of the school for the first 15 minutes of lunch from Monday to Friday this week. There will be pop, chips, chocolate bars and more. Everything is under two dollars so bring your cash and help support homeless people in Dartmouth through Margaret’s House.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Robotics team for being chosen to represent our region in the Virtual FIRST LEGO League Invitational hosted by the program delivery partners in Greece.

Parents:
We recently handed out two cloth masks for all our students. However, we are still in need of donations of disposable masks as students frequently forget to bring a mask (or two) to school with them, or their mask breaks or it gets too wet and they need another mask. We gratefully receive all your donations and thank you so much for the generous support you have shown all school year.
