April 16

Announcements Friday, April 16, 2021
Week Two/F

We acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, which is the traditional ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.

Eagle Expectation:
Make sure you bring your mask, plus a spare, to school every day. Wear you mask at all times. Wear your mask over your mouth AND your nose!

Yesterday at lunch, one of our students lost their black wallet. If you find a black wallet, please turn it in to the office. Thank you.

Don’t forget to buy your tickets for our Rafflebox 50/50 Fundraiser!! Last checked, the total raised so far is over $700. Mr. Vautour’s class is in the lead having raised $120 so far, Ms. Short’s class is in 2nd place and Ms. Tramble’s homeroom is in third place!!!

It is easy to buy tickets! Go to https://www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/ellenvalejhs
This fundraiser is to support our outdoor classrooms, our Grade 9 promotion plans, and, hopefully, to purchase more Chrome Books toward our goal of one for every student.
We are also having a class fundraising competition! If you are buying tickets on behalf of a particular student, there is an option for you to choose their homeroom so we can track ticket sales by homeroom and reward that class with a pizza party.

Tickets are for sale until May 17, 2021, midnight. The draw will take place on May 18, 2021, at the school. The winner will be contacted by email and/or phone.

Yearbook 2021 – Orders can now be made!!
Please drop by the office with $25 (cash preferred) to order your 2021 yearbook!
Speaking of the yearbook, Grade 9 students can submit baby photos for a fun guessing page. Anyone interested can email them to chapmagx@hotmail.com.
Grade 9 photo retakes today in the Band Room.

From Ms. Crocker:
Girls Group with Moe Green meets at 11am in the Learning Commons tomorow and next Monday and Friday too.
Guys Group with Moe Green meets at 1pm in the Learning Commons tomorrow and next Monday and Friday too.

From 905 Civics Group:
Today’s tip to avoid being a bucket dipper is to not ask “Isn’t it hot with that on?” to someone who is wearing culturally different clothes. You might be curious but it sounds like you are criticizing their cultural practice. Thanks for listening and learning how to be more kind.

A canteen will be hosted by 905 in the front of the school for the first 15 minutes of lunch between April 19-23. There will be pop, chips, chocolate bars and more. Everything is under two dollars so bring your cash and help support homeless people in Dartmouth through Margaret’s House.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Robotics team for being one of the top 5 teams, out of 30 provincially, to be selected in a lottery draw to participate in the First Lego League Virtual Open International event which takes place in Greece.

Parents:
We recently handed out another bag containing two cloth masks for all our students. However, we are still in need of donations of disposable masks as students frequently forget to bring a mask (or two) to school with them, or their mask breaks or it gets too wet and they need another mask. We gratefully receive all your donations and thank you so much for the generous support you have shown all school year.

Registration Info: On-line application for Out of Area requests has started and continues through Friday, April 16, at www.hrce.ca. During COVID-19, parents/guardians are considered non-essential visitors to schools. Please use the on-line process. Please visit the HRCE website for more information.
