From Mr. Leek – The Tuesday Drum:
Many African Nova Scotians made a home in the community of Africville, on the edge of the Halifax Harbour. The thriving community stood for over a century, until it was displaced to make room for Halifax’s industrial expansion in the 1960s. Although the physical community no longer stands, its spirit – and the story of all Blacks who called Nova Scotia home – lives on.

From Ms. Tse:
Everyone in our school should now have an envelope with their name on it to sell fresh fruits and vegetables to support our Nourish Your Roots fund raising campaign. This campaign will run until November 1st which is when all money and envelopes should be returned to your teacher or the school office. In the days ahead, encourage your families, friends, coaches, neighbors, teachers, and anyone you know to buy a box of produce from you. As Tony the Tiger would say, they   "Taste gggrrrreeeeaaatttt" !!! The delivery date for the Nourish Your Roots boxes is November 12 between 3 and 5pm.
