From Mme Leslie and Leadership Club and Mr. Carruthers:
This month’s spirit day is on the day of the Terry Fox Run, Wednesday, September 25. Grade 7's are encouraged to wear blue, the 8's red and the 9's green. Each class will set their own class goal for amounts to be raised in support of the Terry Fox Run. We are going to set up benchmarks for prizes. For example, if your class raises $50, they would receive a candy reward;$100: choice activity for 1/2 hour-1 hour: ex. games day, outdoor sports activity; $200: movie and popcorn.
We will also be having a BBQ at lunch where burgers and hotdogs will be available for $1!
The Terry Fox walk means students will travel with their homeroom teachers offsite in the community. Our loop takes the students down Bella Vista Dr., up Woodlawn Rd, up Mt. Edward Rd and then back down Belle Vista Dr. to the school. It is approximately a 2.5km loop. Students who wish to run the loop may do so in a large group with Mrs. Carter. Since 2014 Ellenvale students have walked a combined total distance of 5546kms, approximately the distance from the east coast of Newfoundland to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Students will need to return signed consent forms, which went home today with every student, to be able to take part in the walk/run.
From Ms. Carter:
Cross Country Practice will be today and Wednesday at 3pm. Be ready to go in the lobby for 3. Anyone interested is still welcome to join.
