FromMr. Lewis:
Teachers please remember to review the fire drill procedure in your emergency binder as our first fire drill will be sometime this week. Please also share with your homeroom students what their responsibilities are during a fire drill. Thank you!

Grade 7 Immunization Forms have been sent home. Please return these forms by Monday, September 23. The Immunization Day for Grade 7 students is October 16.

Boys’ second soccer tryout is today at 3pm.
Girls’ Soccer Team is posted outside the gym. Their first practice is Monday, Sept. 16, at 5pm.

Our First Fundraiser for 2019-20!!
Being sent home this week are order forms for our Quickie Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Funds raised by Band Students help to subsidize the cost of their big Band Trip in May. Funds raised by non-band students will go to a variety of events/guest speakers/extra-curricular activities for all the student body. Completed orders are due back by Wednesday, September 25. The delivery date for the cookie dough is Thursday, October 10, and frozen containers will be ready to pick up at 6:30pm. Thank you for your participation and generous support.

Fun Lunches On-Line!
Going home with every student today are instructions on how you can place lunch orders for Pita Pit (Tuesdays), Sunwich (Mon, Tues and Fri) and Kenny’s Pizza (Thursdays) for your child(ren) on-line and delivered to the school. These instructions have also been sent via Swift Messaging (email) yesterday evening. Orders can be placed for this coming Monday, Sept 16, if placed tonight, until the end of the school year, if you wish!

Duke of Edinburgh:
There will be a Duke of Edinburgh Information Session for grade 9 students interested in participating in this year-long program. This session will take place at 11:45 on Wednesday, September 18, in the Learning Commons. Bring your lunch to the meeting! Registration forms will be distributed to those who attend this meeting.

From Ms. Carter:
The next cross country practice will be after school on Monday, Sept 16th. Sign-up sheet is located outside the gym doors, all are welcome to join. Please be ready and dressed to run in the main lobby by 3pm.

Breakfast Program:
Our Breakfast program will start by the end of the month. We are in need of parent volunteers to supervise the breakfast program from 8:05 to 8:35am. You could do one day a week or whatever works best for you. Please contact Jeff Carruthers (jcarruthers@hrce.ca) if you are interested or have questions.

A big thank you to Mr. Carruthers, Mr. Leek, Mr. Pastorius, Ms. Doolan, Ms. Dexter, Mr. Langille, and our new community worker, Ms. Spurr who gave their time to crowd control and to BBQ and hand out the burgers and dogs for everyone in the school yesterday at lunch! Thank you also to everyone who wore pink to promote “Stand Up Against Bullying”! And finally, thank you to the parents who donated juice!!

Picture Day is Tuesday, September 17 – 8:45 to 2:30pm in the Library. Classes will be invited to the library when it is their turn. Retakes will happen on Tuesday, October 15.

The $30 student fee is due TOMORROW. Please make cheques payable to “Ellenvale Junior High” or provide exact funds (we cannot make change). Student ID’s are withheld until student fees are paid. Please come to the office or talk to your homeroom teacher if you have any concerns regarding the payment of these fees.
The Registration Verification Form, Consent for Publication and Lunch Time Forms are due back TOMORROW, please.
The first class to submit a complete (or as near complete as possible) class list of returned forms will receive an Oreo Ice Cream cake to share!

Any students interested in participating in Ellenvale's Leadership team are asked to go to Mme Leslie's room (202) at 12:10 on Monday.

Parents/Guardians:
If you need to report a student absent or late, please call 435-8420 and press 1 for the safe arrival line. You may call this number and leave a message 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you don’t call (or send a note or email to the office) and your student is absent, a call will be made to the phone numbers you have provided and an email will be sent to you as well so that we can ensure that your child is safe.
