Did you know that 1 in 7 Canadians live in poverty and that every year a 150,000 have to stay in an emergency shelter? Today our Grade 9 Civics group is hoping to make a difference by asking you to help us collect a few items to donate to shelters and make care packages with. Please bring them to Room 215 by May 1. We would love cash donations or: Band-Aids, non-perishable food items/snacks, toiletries like small soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunscreen, creams, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, reusable water bottle and reusable fabric bags. Thank you for listening and we hope you will consider helping out.

Our Duke of Ed participants are preparing for their Practice Hike and Qualifying Journey. We are reaching out to the Ellenvale community as we are in need of 10-12 hiking backpacks (with around a 50 L or more capacity). If you have one you are willing to lend us from May 1st until June 10th, please send it into the school, well labeled, to Ms. Legge. She can be reached at klegge@hrce.ca if you have any questions.
