And Wednesday - after school, 3:00-4:00 pm- Diwali Festival Band - open to all Band students, Grades 7,8, and 9. Performance date is October 29, 2016 at the Diwali Festival of Light in Halifax. This is another exciting new performance opportunity for Ellenvale Band students - take advantage of it. These performance opportunities only happen at Ellenvale Junior High.

And also on Thursday - after school 3:00-4:00 pm- Christmas Band - open to all band students, Grade 7, 8, 9 and still accepting new members.
Friday (lunch) - Grade 7 Band
Cookie Dough order forms and money is due Thursday, October 6 - we are still looking for parent volunteers to help tabulate and balance order sheets. Cookie Dough will arrive on Thursday, October 20 and be available for pickup after 7:00 pm in the Ellenvale Gymnasium.
Scale assessments - begin the week of October 10.
There is a Staff Meeting at 310pm and a School Council Advisory Committee meeting at 5:30pm tonight.
The Breakfast Program officially starts this week. Students come into the building at 8:10. They are dismissed at 8:35. All students are welcome!
Ellenvale's Book Club will be starting tomorrow at 11:45 in Ms. Lingley's Room - Room 217! Please bring your lunch! See you there.
There will be a volleyball tryout for grade 7 girls only today at lunch. A grade 8 girls’ tryout will be held tomorow at lunch and a grade 9 tryout will be on Wednesday at lunch. There will be second tryouts for all grade levels next week. Please listen to announcements and check the PE bulletin board for days and times.
And There will be a girls’ soccer practice on Wednesday afterschool from 3-4 on our field.
There will be Cross Country running meetings and runs at the school Tues., Sept. 27, and Thurs., Sept. 29, right after school. Students can sign up to be on the Cross Country team on a list outside the Guidance office room 105. Mr. Gabriel will meet runners at the front of the school on Tuesday after school for the first Cross Country team meeting.
The first boys’ volleyball tryouts will be Tuesday 7:30- 8:30 AM. There are sign-up sheets next to Mr. d'Entremont's room and by the gym. You only need to sign up on one of the sheets. Anyone trying out for the team should come prepared with proper footwear and shorts. Hope to see you there!
Terry Fox Walk
And We are going to do our Terry Fox walk TODAY during the last 2 periods of the day --- looking for donations from students for the Terry Fox Foundation of a loonie or a toonie please! Let’s see how many laps we can do that will extend our journey across our Terry Fox map of Canada!

Friday, September 30, is a Professional Development day for staff. There are no classes for students.
